Job Description

Southern Michigan Pain Consultants (ProCare Pain Solutions) is hiring for a full-time NP or PA for their Portage clinic with travel to their Marshall Clinic. The nurse practitioner or physician assistant renders professional diagnostic and therapeutic medical care to adult patients of all ages under the supervising physician.  Clinical privileges are based on academic and clinical experience, clinical judgment, and demonstrated competence in providing medical care services.  The physician assistant or nurse practitioner reports directly to the medical director.



  • Applicant must be available to and have means to travel as necessary for orientation and training
  • Successful completion of orientation and required skill sets
  • CPR certification or acquisition within 90 days of employment
  • ACLS certification or acquisition within 150 days of employment
  • Completion of proctoring program within 180 days of employment



Minimum:  Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner’s or Physician Assistant program, current Licensure in the state of Michigan

Work Experience:

Minimum:               Two years experience working in an appropriate clinical setting

Preferred:               Two years experience working in an outpatient surgical setting

Job Requirements



1.       Clinical Care

  • Utilize knowledge to provide professional diagnostic and therapeutic services to adult patients of all ages
  • Communicate changes in the status of patients to the attending physician as appropriate
  • Perform inpatient rounds within hospitals
  • Provide care management
  •  Pump and DCS management
  • Provide patient education regarding procedures and medications

2.       Case Load Management

  • Maintain a full schedule per practice template
  • Maintain an independent case load and assume responsibility for case load coverage in absence
  • Comply with administrative policies regarding corporate compliance, billing, coding, and documentation

3.       Facilities / Equipment

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of equipment
  • Coordinate with appropriate person for repairs and maintenance
  • Maintain equipment
  • Follow established facility safety standards
  • Keep up to date on current trends in health care

4.       Client Relations

  • Participate in client program development and management
  • Participate in professional organizations within the community
  • Participate in community workshops
  • Serve on committees and task forces on a voluntary and appointed basis

6.       Self-improvement / Professional Activities

  • Keep current on issues, practice patterns, and trends in health care and those specific to pain management
  • Attend continuing education specific to pain management
  • Join professional organizations specific to pain management
  •  Demonstrate ongoing learning, retention, and understanding of pain management


  • Independently mobile
  • Approximately 80% of time spent standing / walking
  • Periodic moderate computer use
  • Periodic heavy physical exertion
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds


  • Potential exposure to communicable disease, and/or body fluids, medicines and materials common in a latex-rich ambulatory healthcare environment


  • Must have the ability to move from one clinic site to another if necessary
