Physician Assistant

Department of Humanities, Health and Society

 

The Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine seeks applicants for a Physician Assistant position within the Department of Humanities, Health and Society. The Physician Assistant in this role will provide and coordinate general household-centered socio-medical care and treatment to patients in households and medical facilities, in collaboration with an interprofessional team. This includes collaborating with medical faculty, NeighborhoodHELP (NHELP) outreach team, behavioral health team, and clinical staff to develop and assess the outcomes of innovative household-centered care models and to incorporate outreach interventions and behavioral health into assessments and care plans. The Physician Assistant will work with the population health work group to develop and implement population health and quality improvement activities targeting both the Mobile Health Center population and the broader NHELP household population.

 

This position will be assigned to one of four Panther Learning Communities to work with students, faculty, and staff on population health activities for that geographical region. The Physician Assistant will participate in classroom sessions to prepare Physician Assistant (PA) students for their roles in NHELP, coordinate the involvement of PA students in value- added roles targeting population health and quality improvement, supervise interprofessional students in household- centered and population-focused activities, and participate in research activities focused on demonstrating outcomes of the household-centered care model.

 

Minimum qualifications include graduation from a Physician Assistant Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the PA and a Florida Physician Assistant (PA) license or be able to obtain a Florida Physician Assistant (PA) license at the time of hire. Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification is required for this position. A Master of Science (M.S.) degree and at least one (1) year of related experience as a Physician Assistant are preferred.
